ok i guess everyone knows about it, but i still feel indigant enough to write and repeat what the entire population of singapore has done days before me everywhere on the media that is connected to this girl called Wee Shu Min. btw. i intended to write this like on that very day it happened, but i didnt have the time to complete it... so sorry if i sounded outdated or something.summary: coming from a "elite" school called RJC, she responded to Mr Derek Wee's misgivings about the future of Singapore, and it was a very harsh yet to me arrogant response. She's the daughter of Ang Mo Kio MP Mr Wee Siew Kim. An "elite" coming from a "elite". Well im not surprised. Yes and back to the main focus, her entry earned her a hearty response from the public that was very enthusiatic in giving her a piece of their mind. If you want to read her response, search for it elsewhere, im not reproducing it.
by the way. DO NOT for one matter lecture me on any usage of poor or wrong english. im trying my best. i know my english is not fantastic to match up to her. thanks.
lets start from the very basics. what is an "elite"? as my gp tutor says, it supposedly refers to a negative word used to term those who enjoy special privileges exclusively and etc i forgot. but you get the meaning dont you.
basically in singapore, if you are smart, you can be considered an "elite" who can contribute to the future of the country, a.k.a very VIP(very important _____) and considering our main focus Ms Wee Shu Min who hails from RGS and has a scholarship in RJC and her father is the MP of Ang Mo Kio, if Singapore does not call her an "elite", thats like saying pigs can fly, in which they dont in reality.
so tell me, what is worse than having no brains? what is worse than having no looks? what is worse than having no money? its NO EQ.what a farce. Singapore's "elite" with high IQ and no EQ. im quite sure that any person who thinks himself or herself superior to other citizens should have enough sense to keep it to themselves. who in the right mind publishes that kind of ridiculous comments to the public and inviting them to attack you? its like hanging a huge piece of cardboard on your neck saying "shoot me won't you?" for goodness sake. and what arrogance in her writing. "elite" you may be, but it doesn't give you the right to put down others in such a way by deeming them as worthless people of the society. for one, you aren't a working adult yet, all the more you shouldn't tell people to bug off and just get on with life just because they have some misgivings about their future in work. do you even know? have you actually experienced working day in and out in some office five to even seven days a week from the early morning till late in the night? do you? do you? do you know what its like to slog all day and bring back home your work just to complete your projects in time just to keep yourself from being fired for inefficiency and keeping that rice bowl for the family? if you answer no, (which is probably the answer anyway) then it would do you good to keep your mouth shut instead of telling people to get on with life. you have a good father who brings you food and clothing, sends you to school(maybe), buys you what you need and gives you shelter. he takes care of all your needs so that you dont have to worry. you should be fully appreciating the fact that your life is really luxurious compared to other people instead of doing this, really. AND LEARN TO BE HUMBLE. ITS A VIRTUE.
enough said about her. if what reports said about how remorseful she felt were true, she should be crying enough tears to fill up the sports complex swimming pool thats in Ang Mo Kio. if there were any. bah. and i mean the adult one. not the kiddy size. oh and remember to hydrate yourself. crying too much is not really good;)
lets move on to Mr Wee Siew Kim. wow he's really.... er. impressive. he contradicts himself in his first apology, and whips up another offence by not really apologising directly and ends up having to issue another apology. in the first place, couldn't he just cut the chase and admitted his daughter was wrong and that she was very sorry and he was sorry too and everyone will have a happy ending after?(that never happens)
first, he said that his daughter was 18, old enough to "stand by what she says" and thus "he will not gag her". and he contradicted himself by saying that it was the "rantings of an 18-year-old among friends" and that it was a private blog. omfg wth? a P.R.I.V.A.T.E B.L.O.G?????? who's the crackpot here? ok sorry not crackpot sorry for that, but this is ridiculous! where in world did he even get the impression that blogs are private. do they even LOOK private to you? i could like, key in Mr Wee's name now and all the websites are shouting "LOOK AT ME!!!" from the search engine's results and will he go saying " hey thats private! i didnt say that you can use my name although in actual fact you can do it!!!" so how private can things be on the internet? you know its not called the "world wide web" for nothing. unless you decide to put in a password or something, maybe.
and yes what a contradiction. so you mean that, oh my daughter is 18 years old, matured enough, but still she's of the acceptable age to "rant" to her friends like a kid. wow. just like Britney Spears;"im not a girl, not yet a woman"
anyway, it only reflects on how little Mr Wee Siew Kim educated his daughter on EQ and to be humble and etc. im glad i dont have such an MP for the area that i live in, not that ive heard much from them. but at least they dont create such controvesial waves in Singapore enough to get them blasted with admonishments from the public in the face. and i wouldn't want to vote for him either, if i were of the acceptable age to do so. bah! at least during the NKF saga, when Senior Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong's wife commented that S$600k that was paid out to the then CEO of NKF, T.T Durai yearly was considered "peanuts", AT LEAST, he gave an apropriate apology by admitting that indeed she should not have made such a comment. what straightforwardness. compared to this, Mr Wee Siew Kim's apology for his daughter is "peanuts", really.
i wonder, how sorry is Ms Wee Shu Min if she does not come out to apologise to the public for her comments? all we know from her father is that she's remorseful, she knows this, she knows that now, but who knows, it may be just a lie. anyway, one should take responsibility for one's own actions, not hide behind someone else's back. face the music! hello, your father says that you are old enough, so shouldn't you be doing this? or are you just merely hiding in your own room studying doubly hard for your A's so that when the results come out, you top the entire nation, get free school fees to the universities in Singapore, and whack everyone in the face with your astounding results and get cocky again? then again... if she does top the nation... the media would probably do some coverage on her... and the whole Singapore sees her face on tv and then they remember this saga and..... lol you know the rest.
but its pretty sad for her too. i once read the comments about her, and they were all making fun of her mole... her chest... and they even make her sound like some whore or prostitute. thats disgusting, and its very very unkind to make fun of people this way. couldnt they just concentrate on this matter only? if i were in her shoes, i would have really low self esteem by all these malicious comments. and all these is practically ruining her future, even if she does get a scholarship. people would probably think twice before hiring her with those descriptions, poor girl. and in university and jcs, well thats worse. besides her clique, i dont think anyone would want to be friends with her no matter how hard she tries. but then again... she wouldnt have to worry much about her job with a scholarship, won't she? then BAH.
