MediShield, you suck in english.

18 year old me(currently) received a letter one day on the 17th of March. apparently for the very first time, CPF warmly welcomes Ms Wu Shujun to be part of their process of contributing towards her future allowances when she grows old by taking away part of her monthly salary and dumping it with them. what a scheme by the government. always taking care of the people of singapore. how niceanyway, they sent this MediShield information to me since i started to work i presume and started to contribute my income to their everlasting void in CPF. honestly, i didnt really give two hoots about it until i came to my attention that:
" As you do not have sufficient fund in your Medisave account to pay the premium (for Medishield coverage), please also top up $17.00 to your account..."
thats when i started to give two hoots about it.
firstly, i realised that the government is really very ernest in well rounded help to its people. without even asking us whether we want to join in some scheme of theirs, they AUTOMATICALLY add people in, then ask whether they agree with them. i wonder if they are trying to make use of people who find it a bother having to do stuff when they want to back out to pull more people into staying into the program.
secondly, when they AUTOMATICALLY add people in, they will AUTOMATICALLY ask you to pay the money for the program, THEN add on that if you wish to back out, you have to do these few steps blah blah blah. personally i find it very rude when people just come up to me and say:
" Eh i already added your name into this event, you have to pay the money. Eh but if you dun wan to come, okie la, but you got to do some paperwork to back out." Its as if people are doing things without my permisson and just adding me to some list before im aware of it. Of course its the government who's doing somewhat similar to this, but still i dun really find it that courteous of them.
anyway, back to MediShield that sucks in english, why you say? I'll tell you why.
"Dear CPF member, MediShield is a catastrophic health insurance plan that....."
when i read this i was like, wtf?!?!?!? catastrophic? a health insurance plan that is so catastrophic that it sweeps disasters with its coverage of sicknesses or what? or are they just trying to impress people with some colourful adjectives to the plan? my my, im so catastrophilized(*note* i invented that word) with your insurance plan!!!!! because if i intend to take your plan, i will be catastrophilized all my life!!!! thats so horrifying!!!*aghast*
*note* catastrophic: a terrible event in which there is a lot of destruction or many people are injured and die/ n event or situation which is extremely bad for the people involved(taken from the longman dictionary in my house)
i mean, who the fuck are you trying to con people into getting people to sign up out of fear MediShield? your english sucks pit bottom. of course im not going to sign up since im not really having an actual job; i still have university to go to.(thats assuming i do get in, else there's more room for discussion)
anyway, just a side note. if you want to know how CPF deducts money from your monthly pay to fill up that everlasting void, here's the breakdown.
for incomes $500 and below, there will be no deduction of pay for CPF. meaning you get to take all the money.
for incomes $750 and above, they will deduct 20% of your pay towards CPF contribution.
now the most illogical thing. for incomes between $501 - $749, they will deduct 60% of your pay towards CPF contribution. apparently because the government wants to get people in the lower income grp or something save more(especially for those who gamble and blah blah). if thats the case i wonder how these families struggle to make ends meet when more than half their pay is gone towards CPF. i would think its worse than those below 500 bucks. imagine if your pay is really 501 bucks, boy you are really unfortunate to the max.
ok so thats all. our nanny does the weirdest stuff at times when saying that its good for us. bah.
