camp stuff

ok time for major updates. this is all about emerga camp!

On the whole, the camp was not exactly as good as any other camps that i have attended, but most importantly we have to take into consideration that it was a 8-man committee that ran the entire camp with the help of their ogls which is certainly very admirable and good enough to say a job well done for their case!

Looking at my own og, Casya the Archers... I must say that I'm very glad to have been assigned to this group. They are a totally sporting bunch of people who are willing to spend the money and time to go out. Remembering my past few camps with tons of misery people who always claim that they have no money and that their Mamas have cooked long ago or that they need to study, really these people ought to be thrown into the trash can and get incinerated asap. You bunch of buggers are just such a spoilsport. Now you know why some groups always disband after their entire camp, it's because of such people. Sad to say almost all the OG's i had were of that certain calibre. The only groups that proved otherwise were probably my classmates in JC and Casya people.

Firstly, icebreaking was quite fun to me. On the first day, our group was lead to a few empty benches to intro ourselves and surprisingly, our group was rather open with trading comments towards each other. Probably cause a few days before camp started, we had mass chats on MSN with everyone... that's why it didn't feel so alien. So overall it was a good start. The food junction hunt that day was rather disasterous. The photos were so edited till we were misled many times and there was too much to do, too little time. However when we reached chalet, we had several more icebreaking games with another group that we shared the rooms with, mainly group 1 Mogo. It was really fun as the seniors were very participative and everyone was very game to try out and converse with each other.

Oh, the accomodation if compared to other camps, is considered a LUXURY. We stayed in Aloha which is those big bungalow kind of chalet... and almost everyone got a chance to sleep on beds cept for a select few... and there was air con... facilities and such. I loved this part about camp XD

Second day, we had another series of small games which was generally ok... and some were hilarious. To top up the entire thing, my precious pair of slippers was spoilt because I used it to throw into those nets to score points *heartache*. I was practically dragging feet all the way back to chalet cuz I couldn't walk well. At least it spoilt when the games were ending, thank goodness. The major spoiler here was the campfire night where it was not well done. Firstly the organisation of events were too messy to comprehend and some of the stuff did not manage to attract other's attention leaving the crowd to chit chat and look around. My group's skit was very bad on that actual moment that we had to present... lol. Ended up the entire camp was just a bunch of not-high and tired people.

Third day, we had some kind of amazing race with clues or something. We were very enthu about it with the guys really running abt, but the other groups were faster due to their enthu OGLs. Lol. So we ended up 4th. Lunch was improved dramatically after the camp com called up the vendor to complain. Then we had water games but sadly we didn't manage to play the ultimate game of snatching water bombs to throw at people. But the instructions needed to be clearer and quickly delivered, and there was a lack of smoothness as some teams finished faster and some slower. The highlight of that event was that Mao went to fight for the "bone" with Peter in the "dog and bone" game and he actually tore the bone into two. LOL. I think that was super classical and everyone just laughed like crazy.

Oh yes, and there was actually a police and thief game called "mini CS". Basically you catch people from other groups and try to steal their flags. Unlucky me got caught 10 mins after the game started, crap. But I ended up having loads of fun at the enemy's base playing Polar Bear with everyone!LOL

Right after we broke camp, my entire group headed to clark quay for dinner, and went to "Pit Stop" to play games, which our OGLs didn't expect as they thought we wouldn't be that enthu or something, lol. Anyway it was really a crazy period of shouting and laughing when we played those board games and I thoroughly enjoyed myself with these peeps ;)

Finale night, we went to the SAF yacht club if I'm not wrong, for dinner. Rather grand, like some kind of open-air prom night, and it was buffet style! Lol. The MCs need some brushing up for their speeches I felt, but the events were entertaining indeed. I got pulled up to meet my SP and was quite shocked and zzz.... but when Calvin laughed at me the tables turned on him and he got hauled up to meet his SP oso! I laughed like crazy at that point and everyone at Grp 2 was laughing at him and quickly snapping pictures of both of them. LOL!!!!! Quite an enjoyable night and we trashed all but one group to become 2nd overall, just because we won the top prize of 75k points for their DOND game... LOL. Loads of fun, and it was on the last night I had my first try of alcohol, but it seriously didn't suit me. I couldn't even stand the stink of those mild ones. One of us got drunk which was quite startling.

Overall, camp was not really good, but as everyone said, it was the people who were so sporting that made the camp successful, especially Casya people for me =D I would gladly trade any of my previous camps for this one anytime.
