Ambushed yet again.

A few hours ago after my dad dropped me off at the hostel, I went into my room, unpacked my stuff and proceeded to use the laptop.Someone knocked on the door a few minutes later and I got up and opened the door to meet with 3 COMPLETE STRANGERS whom I think I've never seen before in my entire life, much less in Eusoff, asking me if I would like to participate in voluntary work. Are they even authorised to come disturb the residents???
Now I'm not such a cold-hearted person to despise volunteery work, but I disagree with people actually confronting me on my doorstep and forcing me to make an impromptu decision! >=(
Basically, I don't like people who pester me to do charitable stuff. I have gained enough civics and moral education in my primary and secondary and all the way up to JC life(gosh!) to know that we should abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzohnoiranoutofalphabets in society in appreciation of the elderly and sympathy to the needy. But this sounds like preaching which I absolutely abhor. So, no please, don't pester me you people.
My roommate told me, if we really wanted to do charity work, we would have signed up ourselves, not wait till people come to us to do so. Very true indeed. However it does not signify that I do not do my part for the charity. In fact, it is because of organisations like NKF that I get put off in doing charity work. Why? I hate the fact that these people exploit the feelings of the community by actually trying to prick their conscience of not donating at least $50 to it's bottomless money pits, in which a significant portion would be going down the directors' pockets.
Another thing to point out is the methods which charities employ to raise funds besides those overhyped tv shows that NKF puts up each year. Some require people to sell paper tickets for a whole 2 bucks, which entitles you to a lucky draw. However skeptical I am over whether a lucky draw is really held, but what does it mean? That you want people to donate by getting them to give in to their greedy nature of getting a big prize? That completely undermines the meaning of charity, which is to give FROM THE HEART.
Also, it means that I am forced to give a whole 2 bucks to them, which I personally dislike. I like donating money in small amounts. I prefer the old method of having stickers instead of coupons or some cheap pen. Come to think of it, does it mean that I'm so OLD? ;_;
Ok, I digress >.>
So please, don't pester me, and stop resorting to such methods to get money! =( Then again, they aren't likely to read this... gah.
